CLOS CIEN: A Vineyard of Your Own, Ahead of the WCGC España Season

CLOS CIEN began with founder Brian Thompson, who spent three decades in the Basque Country before turning a long-held dream into something real.

He wanted to own a small vineyard and make his own wine, without needing to become a full-time winemaker to do it. The barrier was never appetite, it was capital and complexity: buying land, building production, finding a team good enough to guarantee the result year after year.

CLOS CIEN was built to remove that barrier. To make every wine lover’s dream possible.

A vineyard of your own in Rioja Alavesa

Based in La Rioja Alavesa, CLOS CIEN gives members a personally allocated 500 m² plot within a working vineyard, tended by an expert team that includes Vineyard Director Ignacio Miguel del Campo, who has spent over 30 years working the region, Cellar Master Ramon Garcia, and World’s Best Sommelier 2023 Miguel Ángel Millán.

Each year, members get wine made from their own vines, bottled under their own label. Some like to get hands on with the blend, others just wait for the bottles to turn up.

A model every golfer understands

Brian explains the structure the way most golfers already understand a club:

“It works like a golf club. A one off joining fee gets you in, and your annual dues cover what you actually use each year, in our case a guaranteed amount of wine made just for you.”

A membership, not an investment fund. A fixed annual cost, not an open ended one.

CLOS CIEN, official wine of the WCGC España 2026 circuit

CLOS CIEN and the WCGC España 2026 circuit

That’s why CLOS CIEN is the official wine of the Expansión WCGC España 2026 circuit this season.

The tour runs across four stops: Golf Empordà on the Costa Brava on 25 July, El Chaparral Golf Club on the Costa del Sol on 15 August, Golf Santander in Madrid on 8 September, and the National Final at Parador Golf in Málaga on 22 and 23 September. Players and guests will find CLOS CIEN pouring at each tournament, with Brian himself running informal blending sessions at the stand so people can taste how a wine actually comes together before it ever reaches a bottle. Magnums go to the Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin winners, and to the top three teams at every event.

Golf clubs and vineyard ownership run on the same idea: pay to join, know exactly what you get each year, and end up with something worth having because of it. That’s the whole pitch, and it’s why the fit works.

A distinctive experience for clients and guests

For sponsors and players used to entertaining clients on a course, CLOS CIEN gives them something different to offer: a bottle with someone’s own name on it, made in a vineyard they actually own a piece of.

The WCGC circuit is not the only place to find CLOS CIEN this year. The team has poured tastings in Hong Kong, Dubai and London, with Dublin and Amsterdam next on the calendar. Ahead of the season, CLOS CIEN is inviting WCGC España players and guests to taste the wine in the 19th Hole Club, hear how it is made, and see what ownership actually looks like.
