Madeira Island Set to Host Business Leaders at the World Corporate Golf Challenge Portugal

The World Corporate Golf Challenge (WCGC) Portugal 2025, recognised as the world’s leading corporate golf tournament, is about to take place on Madeira Island. This event, which combines sport and business networking, will take place on 5 April at the Santo da Serra Golf Club, a renowned course that has previously hosted European Tour competitions.

The Madeira qualifier is the first of three qualifying tournaments that precede the national final. Due to adverse weather conditions, the qualifier at Quinta do Peru Golf Course in Sesimbra will be held on April 29th and the third qualifier is scheduled for May 31st at Axis Golfe in Ponte de Lima. The winners in these qualifiers will secure a place in the national final, scheduled for June 14th at the Bom Sucesso Resort in Óbidos. The winners of this final will have the honour of representing Portugal in the WCGC World Final, which this year will be held in Shanghai, China, next October.

Santo da Serra has hosted the Madeira Islands Open, a European Tour tournament, for several editions, attracting some of the world’s best golfers. Its reputation as a top-class course makes it an ideal venue for competitions such as the Madeira qualifier of the World Corporate Golf Challenge. Santo da Serra Golf Club stands as one of the most esteemed golf courses in both Portugal and Europe. Established in 1937 and expertly redesigned in 1991 by the legendary golf architect Robert Trent Jones Sr., the course is celebrated for its demanding layout and breathtaking vistas of the Atlantic Ocean and Madeira’s majestic mountains. Beyond its challenging design, the club boasts top-tier amenities, including a clubhouse, a restaurant, a pro shop, and extensive practice areas, making it a must-visit destination for golfers of all abilities. With its perfect blend of technicality and natural beauty, Santo da Serra Golf Club remains a premier spot for golf enthusiasts seeking both a competitive and scenic experience.

It is also important to highlight with enthusiasm and pride, whether you are a golfer or not, that Santo da Serra Golf Club was distinguished with the award for “Best Par 3 Hole in the World” and “Sustainable Water Capture System on the Course”, in 2024, during the World Golf Awards gala.

This qualifier is set to bring together executives and professionals from across the country, offering not just intense competition but also valuable opportunities for networking and collaboration. Participants will have the chance to forge new connections and foster business relationships, all while enjoying the camaraderie that comes with such an esteemed event. By blending sport and business, the qualifier is sure to strengthen the ties between the corporate world and the world of golf, creating a unique atmosphere for both competition and cooperation.
