The picturesque town of Ponte de Lima hosted the third qualifier of the World Corporate Golf Challenge Portugal by LG, bringing together leading corporate teams for a day of competitive golf, strategic networking, and premium brand engagement.
Amidst intense heat and the demanding fairways of Axis Golfe Ponte de Lima, Viagens Abreu stood out as the top-performing team, clinching victory with a total of 44 points. The duo, long-time friends and former high-level athletes, credited their success to synergy, shared experience, and a passion for performance. “Playing this qualifier together was more than competition—it was a celebration of friendship, focus, and the thrill of the game,” they stated.
When asked to define the WCGC Portugal experience in one word, they responded immediately: “Challenging.” They emphasised how the course required patience, discipline, and strategic decision-making: “The heat added an extra layer of difficulty, but staying sharp was key—and it paid off.”
Eye on the National Final
Looking ahead to the National Final on June 14th in Óbidos, the team acknowledged the shift in competitive format—from cumulative scores per hole to a more aggressive fourball betterball format, inviting tactical risk-taking and higher scoring potential. “We’re confident, but aware of the challenge. Representing Portugal in the World Final in Shanghai would be a dream.”
