The following Terms of the Competition, together with any Local Rules published by the Committee, apply to the Sports Legends Cup, a golf tournament organised under the “WORLD CORPORATE GOLF CHALLENGE 2021” and played in accordance with the Rules of Golf approved by R&A Rules Limited.
TERMS OF THE COMPETITION
All players must have and present, whenever requested, an updated handicap certificate issued by the Handicap Committee of their home club, recognized by an International Golf Federation.
The constitution of the teams will be defined by the Committee. Each team will consist of 4 players: 1 Legend (the team captain) and 3 amateurs/guests.
VENUE AND DATE: Oitavos Dunes Links Golf, 3rd, and 4th November
First tee time: tee 1, 09.30 am (to be confirmed)
FORM OF PLAY / NUMBER OF HOLES: “YELLOW BALL”, “Four Ball Better Ball”, 12 holes
Stableford
Note: On the Yellow Ball form of play, each team will have 4 players. Each player will receive a sleeve of 3 yellow balls. On each hole only one of the team members can play a yellow ball (the “Yellow Ball”), the other players will play their normal balls. The first player of the team, Player A according to the draw, will play the yellow ball on hole #1; on hole #2 Player B plays the yellow ball and so on with all four players playing the yellow ball on a different hole. Player A will play his yellow ball (the “Yellow Ball”) on holes #5 and #9, meaning each player will play the Yellow Ball a total of three times.
The team score on each hole is the sum of the stableford net points of the player playing the “Yellow Ball” and the best stableford net score of the other three players of the team. If the player runs out of yellow balls, he can play another ball that will be designated as the “Yellow Ball” and that must be clearly identified as such.
HANDICAPS: The playing handicap is ¾ of the course handicap.
The maximum playing handicap for men is 24 and for ladies is 30.
TEES: Men – yellow tees / Ladies – red tees
DRAW: Both draws will be announced at:
– “WORLD CORPORATE GOLF CHALLENGE” dedicated website (WCGC Sports Legends),
– on-site at the WCGC Lounge,
– on an e-mail sent to all players.
PRIZES:
1st Team, Net score, 3rd November
1 st Team, Net score, 4th November
The Scores Recording Area and the official Competition Board will be at the Hospitality Area at The Oitavos Hotel.
At the end of each round at least one of the players from each group must make his way to the scores recording area to confirm scores and the yellow ball holes/players, as well as sign the scorecards and report any occurrences.
The team’s scorecard is officially handed to the Committee when the team’s representative leaves the Scores Recording Area with both feet.
For the purposes of a tie, it will be considered the team’s handicap, which is the average of the sum of ¾ of each team’s players. In the event of a tie, the 1st prize Net will be awarded to the team with the lowest average handicap.
If the tie persists, the team’s average handicap is calculated without the Legend’s handicap, with the tie breaking in favour of the lower average handicap.
Finally, the tiebreaker must be made through the best team’s yellow ball total score throughout the 12 holes.
When the results are up on the competition board that means the competition’s results are officially announced and the competition is closed.
Smart casual golfing attire.
All players must wear the polo provided by the World Corporate Golf Challenge organizing body.
