The World Corporate Golf Challenge (WCGC) continues to expand its global footprint by welcoming new licensees into its network. This interview features Shoban Ramlu, the latest representative from Malaysia. He shares his vision for the World Corporate Golf Challenge Malaysia and the Tournament’s impact on the local business community.

On incorporation and its vision

Why did you join the World Corporate Golf Challenge family as a Licensee? With nearly 20 years of experience in Malaysia’s golf industry, I recognized WCGC as a unique tournament that brings corporate leaders together through golf. Seeing its success in over 30 countries inspired me to take this extraordinary event to Malaysia.

How does golf impact the local Business Community? Bringing the World of Business together. Golf is a game that connects business and friendship. It is a game that puts the business together over 18 holes and a long-lasting friendship.

What is your vision for WCGC’s development in Malaysia? Our ultimate goal is for Malaysia to host the World Final. This would showcase our country as a prime golfing destination, emphasizing our rich culture and beautiful landscapes.

Organization of the Tournament

What new features will WCGC Malaysia introduce? Through WCGC Malaysia, we plan to host a yearly Challenge Trophy for corporate companies in Malaysia.

What are your expectations for local corporate participation? We anticipate overwhelming support. WCGC Malaysia is exclusively tailored for corporate leaders and offers a unique platform for networking and brand positioning.

On the relationship with the global event

What does representing Malaysia internationally mean to you? It is an honour to represent Malaysia globally, especially after securing third place in the Haikou World Final. This milestone underscores the talent and passion we bring to the WCGC.

How will you highlight Malaysia’s culture in WCGC? During the Gala Dinner, we will showcase Malaysia’s rich traditions and values through tourism-related gift exchanges and national attire.

What is the importance of being part of a global community like WCGC? For me and my company, holding the license for the world’s largest corporate golf tournament is a significant credential and an opportunity to contribute to this global community.

Can you share a memorable experience from the World Finals? It’s an event that leaves a huge memory, from the organizer’s tours, the people, the destination, the shows, the gift packs, golf, food, etc. Amazing! The Malaysian team had a wonderful week in Haikou and is looking forward to more fantastic world finals in the future!
