Tenerife, [October 6, 2023] — The atmosphere in Tenerife was full of anticipation and excitement when the World Corporate Golf Challenge 2023 chose this paradisiacal enclave as the backdrop for the World Final of the world’s largest golf tournament for companies. More than two decades after its creation, the competition celebrated its 30th anniversary, and it did it in a big way.

World Corporate Golf Challenge Tenerife 2023: an international stage

The Canary Island was filled with life by hosting 22 teams from various nations that came to dispute the coveted title of world champions. The teams, representing the diversity and talent of global corporate golf, made Tenerife the epicenter of world golf during the days of competition.

The Championship comes to life

From the first swing to the last putt, the tournament was a rollercoaster of emotions. After two intense rounds and challenging clashes, it was the Portuguese team of TURKISH AIRLINES who were crowned world champions, closely followed by the formidable Chinese representatives of GUOJIAO 1573 TEAM 1.

Hospitality at its Finest

While the participants showed their skills on the field, the Hotel Tivoli La Caleta provided a space of luxury and comfort, allowing the players to rest and prepare for the coming days in an atmosphere of relaxation and exclusivity.

The Sports Legends Cup, a parallel tournament for enjoyment

Simultaneously, the Abama Golf course hosted the Sports Legends Cup. This invitational tournament brought together sports legends and golfers in an unprecedented setting, creating unforgettable moments and new stories to tell. Accommodations for this select group were arranged at Las Terrazas de Abama and Los Jardines de Abama, reflecting the magnificence of the event.

The Sports Legends Cup featured Eddie Polland (former Ryder Cup), Alberto Berasategui (tennis), Regino Hernández (Olympic snowboard medal), Isidoro San José (former Real Madrid player), “Pichi” Alonso (former FC Barcelona player), former tennis player Pato Clave, and former footballers Donato Gama da Silva, Paul Walsh and Jim Barron, among others.

A closure in great style

The finishing touch took place in the gardens of the Hotel Tivoli La Caleta. An awards ceremony that, beyond awarding the champions, celebrated the 30th anniversary of the World Corporate Golf Challenge. A milestone that reaffirms the relevance and continuity of this tournament in the international sports panorama. Javier García Olivares, Director of the Hotel Tivoli La Caleta, thanked all the guests for their attendance and highlighted the effort that has been made to host for the first time in its facilities a great event of these characteristics.

The ceremony was attended by Dimple Melwani, CEO of Tourism of Tenerife, representing the local government, who addressed a few words of congratulations to all participants and attendees.

In addition, recognitions were made to Qian Winsen, representative DE Sports; and ZHANG BIAO, General Manager of Luzhou Laojiao. That awarded prizes to the first three classifieds.
