Santo da Serra Golf Club hosted the second qualifier on April 18, bringing together more than 30 teams for a day marked by competitiveness, corporate networking, and sporting excellence, with the support of the Madeira Promotion Association. Aiming to secure a place in the National Final, scheduled for July 3 in Óbidos.
On one of Portugal’s most iconic courses, companies and players delivered a day of high-level competition, confirming the event’s growing prestige and the circuit’s dynamism.
In the NET standings, Team DISTINTUS secured first place with 46 points, thanks to the duo of Luca Bordino and Ricardo Pina, while the second qualifying spot was claimed by SIMETRIFLOOR LX with 45 points, represented by Joaquim Gouveia and Paulo Jorge Sousa.
In the GROSS category, victory went to Team SIMETRIFLOOR with 41 points, made up of Pedro Araújo and António Spínola, followed by Team NOS 2 with 39 points, featuring Rafael Reis Alves and Rui Freitas, who also secured a place in the final.
For João Potier, player and General Director of Arrozeiras Mundiarroz, the success of these events lies precisely in the combination of competition and human connections. “There is always a networking component associated with these events, but the real value of these tournaments is in the healthy competitive environment and the friendships that are created and endure over the years. In the case of Madeira, I have been participating for three consecutive years now, and it is always a great pleasure to reconnect with the friends I have made on the course, in addition to the excellent way we are always welcomed,” he noted.
The president of the host club, Paulo Sousa, also emphasized the pride of once again hosting an event of this scale at Santo da Serra. “This is already the fourth edition, and it is a great honor for us to once again host a tournament of this magnitude.”

On an extraordinary course like Santo da Serra, combined with the recognized expertise of the World Corporate Golf Challenge organization, all the ingredients are in place for a truly successful event,” he stated.
The uniqueness of the Madeira qualifier was also highlighted by Fidel Alonso, a legend of the Sports Legends Cup, who described Madeira as a distinctive destination in the international golf landscape. “Madeira is an absolutely unique place. We are used to other cities and venues where golf courses are similar, but this location is completely different from all the others and holds a very privileged position,” he noted.
Ana Massapina, Executive Partner of WCGC Portugal, also emphasised the competition’s consistent growth and the entry of new companies. “It has shown very positive development. The addition of new companies represents a clear asset to the national circuit, demonstrating that we are expanding our presence and reaching new sectors where we previously had little or no footprint,” she explained. Successfully concluded, the Madeira qualifier now gives way to the next rounds of the competition, maintaining high expectations ahead of the National Final, which will bring together the top-ranked teams and where the company that will represent Portugal at the World Final—set to take place in October in Beijing, China—will be determined.
