Cascais crowns the winner of the 2021 World Final of the World Corporate Golf Challenge

Clínica Laranjo Tinoco has recently won the 2021 World Final of the World Corporate Golf Challenge. Carlos Tinoco and Luís Albuquerque Rodrigues, from Portugal, reached 85 points after two impressive rounds of golf. After a hard-fought final, they won with just one above White Eagle Corporation from UAE (84 points). LumberJack from Turkey came in third place with 81 points.

The ‘Road to Cascais’ is the result of more than 100 events throughout 30 countries. The World Final saw 18 teams that had won the chance to represent their companies and countries at Portugal’s No.1 golf course: the Oitavos Dunes in the magnificent area of Cascais.

Two competitions in three days

At the same time that the official competition, the Sports Legends Cup, was held. It is a charity invitation event for Senior Executives, Licensees and VIP Guests that took also place at Oitavos Dunes. 22 teams led by WCGC Ambassadors and Sports Legends Eddie Polland, Abdelatif Benazzi, Jonathan Davies, Giovane Gávio, Ryan Pickett, Craig Quinnell, Jim Barron, Nuno Valente, Carlos Xavier, Stephen Staunton and Jeremy Dale, played a Fourball Better Ball, Stableford Net 3/4 HCP format.

A complete sucess

Commenting on the event, José Guerra, chairman of the WCGC, said: «We are delighted to bring the World Final to the spectacular coast of Lisbon and in particular to Cascais, which offers beaches, quaint villages and pristine forests. Cascais and Estoril are must-see destinations for any visitor to Portugal». 

José Guerra did not want to forget in his speech at the final gala dinner, held at the famous Casino Estoril, to thank all those involved in the event, from licensees to sponsors, ambassadors, sports legends and staff. «All of you have worked hard for long months marked by challenging difficulties such as the Covid-19 pandemic, to make this edition of the event a new success».

About World Corporate Golf Challenge

It’s been 28 years since The Times newspaper, in 1993, started the WCGC as a platform for «bringing the world of business together» in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere using Golf as the mean. Countries worldwide were participating, offering local executives from various economic sectors a platform to network more than 100 national qualifying events organized under the auspices of the WCGC.
