On the 3rd of June, in the north of the country, on the imposing Axis Golf Ponte de Lima course, designed by Daniel Silva & David Silva, 68 players competed for their place in the WCGC Portugal 2023 National Final, which will be held on the 8th of July, at Royal Óbidos.
Axis Golfe Ponte de Lima has hosted the North stage since 2018 and is part of the DNA of the world’s largest corporate golf tournament. This partnership is reinforced by Manuel de Miguel, Director of the Axis Hotéis group, “I start with the importance and greatness that this circuit has at a national and international level, being the greatest amateur tournament in the world and the fact that the company that organizes it, Golf Concept, to be of irreproachable professionalism and dedication, whether in the sports area or in the publicity area, which brings us great visibility in the golf and business environment.”
An event celebrating its 30th anniversary
For 30 years, the World Corporate Golf Challenge has challenged companies to participate in this corporate event and shape the biggest golf tournament in the corporate world. For José Guerra, Chairman of the World Corporate Golf Challenge, this is “a golf event that provides the perfect environment for participating companies to develop their relationships with employees, customers, suppliers and partners. “Bringing the World of Business together” is the key to success for this highly competitive match.
Of the 34 teams in the North stage, Villas & Golfe was the champion with a total of 69 points where Sérgio Magalhães and José Domingos Alves agree that this tournament is a real Challenge. “Participating in the World Corporate Golf Challenge is a fantastic and unique experience.
The level and availability presented by the organization and its partners convey to all participants extra motivation to overcome themselves. I believe that it was exactly what happened, which allowed us to obtain this sensational and unforgettable victory”, says José Domingos Alves. Sérgio Magalhães, with his eyes set on the National Final, reinforces that “The finals are there to be won. We will give everything to do it. But first, we will be enjoying this event to the fullest.”
In Minho, BTravel’s blue ball hid once again and challenged players to find it. Three players found the blue ball with the inscription “Thas’s the One” and participated in the respective draw. João Ribeiro was the winner and won an experience at the Sports Legends Cup, in Tenerife from the 3rd to the 6th of October, which includes travel, accommodation, welcome cocktail, gala dinner and the premium experience of playing alongside the biggest sports legends, in a tournament that will be held in parallel with the World Corporate Golf Challenge World Final.
Other partners were also present at the stage and activated their brands throughout the day, such as Nicola and Uriage at check-in. In the results presentation cocktail, Super Bock, the Wine Route of the Setúbal Peninsula, Banana da Madeira, Thyme and Casa Ibérica – Ibéricos Montellano.
WCGC Portugal 2023, a Road to Tenerife
With 60% of the Portuguese tour completed, Estela Sargento, Founder of Golf Concept, states that “The National Final will be a moment of celebration and consecration of the World Corporate Golf Challenge product, we are going to celebrate 30 years and the weight of age brings more responsibility, which for us translates into a greater challenge for the coming years”.
The last qualifying stage of WCGC Portugal 2023 will be on Madeira Island, at Clube de Golfe Santo da Serra, on June 17, 2023, where we will determine the last 6 companies along with the rest that qualifies through the Ranking.
