WCGC Singapore

Inaugural event to be held at a Prestigious Golf Club in August 2022

Eight Vine Ventures is delighted to join the World Corporate Golf Challenge (WCGC) as its latest licensee in Singapore. Established since 1993 in the United Kingdom, WCGC is arguably the largest and most established global “Business to Business” golf tournament, bringing together corporate executives around the world who share a passion for the game.

“We are delighted to launch the inaugural World Corporate Golf Challenge (WCGC) Singapore this year. During the Pandemic, Golf has become one of the most popular recreational sports, with a record number of new golfers joining the game. We have also seen a significant increase in the membership prices of our golf clubs in Singapore. WCGC Singapore will bring a whole new dimension to Corporate Golf Days as the participating corporates will be involved in an event of a global scale, where the winning team will represent Singapore to compete at the WCGC World Final, as well as being part of a long-standing, prestigious and reputable event that has spanned more than 29 years,” he added excitedly.

Joseph Kwok, Director of Eight Vines Ventures

The inaugural WCGC Singapore event is planned for late August/September 2022 at a prestigious Golf Club, which will be announced once the details are finalised.  Many golfers who heard about the event are excited and have expressed interest in participating. There is also keen interest and support from chambers of commerce, business associations, partners and sponsors who want to be part of the event.

“WCGC is excited to return to one of the most important business hubs in the world. Singapore is thriving and WCGC Singapore will be a great platform for the leading corporates and businesses to interact, network and do business around the wonderful game of golf. Together with our local licensees, our plan is to create one of the leading corporate events in Asia, starting from Singapore”

Jose Guerra, Chairman of the World Corporate Golf Challenge.

In 2021, the top national teams representing more than 33 countries participated in the WCGC World Final in Cascais, Portugal. In October this year, more countries are expected to come together in Tenerife, Spain, where the World Final will be held.

Eight Vines Ventures plans to launch WCGC in other Southeast Asian countries over the next 2-3 years. Being one of the most economically dynamic regions, Southeast Asia is an attractive region for global investors. It’s expected that networking over a game of golf will help businesses explore opportunities, promote economic growth, generate better profits for businesses and improve the livelihoods of people here.

With the growth of the WCGC footprint in the region, it is envisioned that the WCGC World Final will be held in Singapore over the next 3-5 years where Singapore will play host to business elites from all over the world. The intention is to seek support from the relevant authorities in Singapore as hosting WCGC World’s Final will contribute positively to Singapore’s economy like other world-class events such as F1 and SMBC Singapore Open.

Eight Vine Ventures also endeavours to make a positive impact on the lives of the people in the region by donating a significant portion of the operating profits of WCGC to worthy charitable and ESG causes in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
